Haunted Moon An Otherworld Novel Yasmine Galenorn 9780515152814 Books

I have followed Yasmine's writing from book one and have enjoyed each and every one of them!

As I do not like to give reviews telling you specifics, I would rather you be surprised, rather I will share my overall impressions.

World-building can be a difficult endeavor; Yasmine hits the mark. She is so creative, and clearly knowledgeable in this field, you FEEL as though you are actually apart of her world. I was drawn into her world, as I always find I am, and enjoyed every second of the journey.

Her character development is spot on. You quickly love (or hate) her characters, learning their unique individual personality, being drawn into their story further.

If you are new to this series, while it can easily be read as a stand-alone, I would HIGHLY recommend starting at the beginning. Since her characters have a revolving, evolving, continuing role throughout the series, it allows the reader to follow along with them on their journey.

At this point, being book thirteen, if an Author made it this far, the story starts to get bland and boring; not the case with this series. Rather, I am looking forward to the next in the series, having already pre-ordered.

I hope you enjoy this series and Yasmine's writing as much as I have! Enjoy! =) Shelbie

Haunted Moon An Otherworld Novel Yasmine Galenorn 9780515152814 Books Reviews

I really like getting books from Betterworld books because they care about the actual books themselves. They are packaged nicely and in pretty great condition. I appreciate their effort in making it possible to read these great books that were once in a library. Thank you!!
The continued adventure, of the sisters their friends and allies. The problems of the beings they need stop they.
Here we learn the dark side of the Moon Mother and Camille's role. There's a lot of soul-searching in this one as Camille seeks to reconcile this new information with all she knew and accept this new side of herself.
The sister go above and beyond in this one. Camille and Mario grow in death magic while Camille is training to be the earth side high priestess for the new moon for the moon mother.
I have been addicted to this series for over 2 years, since I found the first four books at my local library. This is the 13th in the series. And they are consistently so well written that I get lost in them. I applaud Ms. Galenorn, she has kept a wonderful series fresh and intriguing. I can't wait for #14.

There are 3 sisters, half fae and half human, each having her own powers and abilities. This one is the eldest sisters, Camille's POV. Each book alternates between Camille, Menolly and Deliah as protagonist. It is a series well worth reading. Each book is my new favorite as is the sister who is the telling the story. These DO need to be read in order to understand the action and plot. And they are most certainly for adults as there is a lot if sexual content, violence and mild foul language.

If you like strong, powerful woman who can kick butt while still be vulnerable... then this book, this series, is for you. Enjoy!
While I've been a big fan of this series since the beginning, I am feeling that I am getting less and less bang for the buck. The novels (or novellas) are getting shorter, the price is the same, and this particular book suffered from "Anita Blake Syndrome," meaning that the plot took a backseat to the main character's almost perpetual physiological arousal. The action (out of the bedroom) was pretty uninspired and arbitrary, and the finale was incredibly disappointing considering how long they've been at odds with this particular protagonist. It felt like the author really didn't know how to finish it and so she just chose the path of least effort. And then there was the myth-o-babble, those times when Camille went off with Mario to be part of what felt like completely random ceremonies that might eventually have something to do with whatever grand, cross-novel plot-lines that the YG has in mind, but here they seemed out of place, made no sense, and broke what little flow she had gotten going.

Part of the overall problem is that the Otherworld series has way too many characters popping in and out and its kind of getting hard to keep track of them all, much less actually give them enough page-time to actually care about them. YG seems to have a particular affinity for Camille, meaning she's going to get more character development than either of the other sisters, sometimes in their own books. I think that all the hangers-on need to be taken out or minimized and concentrate on the sisters and their spouses. All in all, it's a shame because I've really gotten to like a lot about these characters over the years, but it just seems that there's nothing really left in the tank. I really hope the author proves me wrong because she's shown so much talent and taken some bold risks over the years, and I'd like to see her succeed in getting back to that.
I previously wrote a review of this series on the page for one of the previous books in the series. I believe I gave it 3 stars at that time. However, after reading several other series while I wait for the next in this line to come out, I've come to realize that these do entertain me quite a bit. And while I've had some trouble warming up to characters in other series, I like most of the characters she's developed. There's quite a few, so if you haven't been reading this one from the beginning, you may have a hard time keeping up. But they have their charms, all of them. I still think Delilah has been really slow to develop, and I'm pretty lukewarm as far as her character, but I do like Camille and Menolly. And you should know, they can be pretty explicit (both in language and sexually), so if you are bothered by that, I would not recomnend them. That doesn't bother me, so I will keep reading. Do be prepared, also, if you are just starting this series...it's a lot of books! I've come to realize this is a very entertaining series, and I'll keep reading them.
